Squid Game has increased sales of white Vans by 7,800%
- Dong-hyuk director and creator Hwang wrote The Squid Game in 2009, but due to the amount of violence and bloody scenes, he didn’t think the series would appeal to a large number of people, and he couldn’t find enough sponsors to shoot it.
- The symbols used in the series are used as characters or parts of characters in the Korean alphabet. The circle symbol means the letter “O”, the triangle symbol is part of the letter “J” and the square symbol means “M”. The images on the business card thus mean “OJM” and are thus an extract of the Korean name of the series Ojingeo geim.
- One of the most sought-after queries on Google at the time of the series’s broadcast was the question: “How many dollars (in our country are crowns) are 45.6 billion Korean won?” This amount is at stake in the series. At the time of broadcasting the series (October 2021), it was CZK 836.3 million.
- The series was originally intended to be a film.
